Book: Alice in the Country of Hearts vol 5, first edition
Illustrator: Soumei Hoshino
Translated into English: 2010
The Queen is throwing a royal ball and everyone is invited. Alice, however, is hesitant to attend, especially when she finds out the odiously insulting Hatter will be there. Finagled into attendance by her friends, Alice begins to enjoy herself…until the Hatter makes his appearance. His comments being the final straw, Alice goes to confront him, when she is stopped by Peter, whose comments of time and memory only confuse. Leaving him, she finally finds the Hatter and has it out with him.
I am not going to lie, as much as I enjoy this series, I was pretty bored with this book. About all that happens is the ball, and the only plot heavy occurrences are towards the end of the book. In fact, the only thing that kept me reading was the foreknowledge that this is the book where I find out the true relationship between Vivaldi and the Hatter (thanks to my illustrious roommate for giving me something to go on!). Oh, and guys in suits, very dashing, especially Ace and Boris!
Overall, I give this 3 pages. It is not the best in the series, a bit boring until the end, but I have read worse.
